Privacy & Data Protection

I take privacy and data protection very seriously. I adhere to UK data protection legislation (GDPR). I am registered with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office), whose role is to protect data privacy for individuals, including information stored on digital devices.

Before your first treatment I will send you a link to a digital Health Questionnaire, which I ask you to complete in full before your first treatment. The questions ask for a few details about yourself, including contact details and your general health and wellbeing.

I will also record notes after subsequent treatments, e.g. any health updates, the essential oils used and massage observations, such as where I noted areas of muscle tension. 

The purpose of my questions and the notes I take is to help me give you the best and safest treatment that I am able to. The responses you give will help me choose the essential oils, base oils and massage approach to best meet your requirements. 

Please be assured that clients’ notes are totally confidential. My Health Questionnaires are designed using Google Forms, which are considered a very safe way of collecting data. Only I have access to my Google account, laptop & mobile phone, which are all password protected. Any paper notes are stored in a locked box which no one else has access to. On the rare occasion when it might be appropriate to share your notes with a third party, such as a medical practitioner, I will only do so with your signed permission. 

You have the right to see your notes at any time - just ask me. Legally I need to keep client records for a minimum of 7 years, sometimes longer (see ICO for exceptions). If you are no longer seeing me for treatments after this period I will destroy them. 

If you have given permission to be on my mailing list you will receive occasional messages from me, sent via Mail Chimp which also conforms to GDPR legislation. You can unsubscribe from my mailing list at any time. This does not affect me contacting you personally regarding appointments or similar, which I will do when needed.
